Tata Motors will reportedly launch the new 2022 Nexon EV on May 11, 2022. The upgraded Nexon EV is said to offer a long range than the current model. Previously, the 2022 Nexon EV was scheduled to launch on April 20.

The Tata Nexon EV SUV will come with a larger battery pack that will help to increase its range, which is speculated to be 400km.

Long-range 2022 Nexon EV

The new long-range Nexon EV as been upgraded with a new 40kWh battery pack that is 30 percent larger than the current model’s 30.2kWh unit. With the larger battery, the EV is likely to deliver higher driving range.

Notably, the current Nexon EV provides a range of 312km (ARAI) on a single charge. However, the real-world range of 200-220km is offered by Nexon EV. The new Tata Nexon EV is expected to offer a range of 400km. This roughly means that the real-world mileage that the users will get is around 300km.

With a larger battery pack, the weight of the 2022 Tata Nexon EV will increase. However, the boot space of the EV will be reduced (as a bigger battery will be adjusted). The new Nexon will get a 6.6kW AC charger. The current generation of Nexon EV is offered with 3.3kW AC charger which takes around 10 hours to completely charge the battery.

The long-range Nexon EV is also expected to get selectable regen modes. This will enable drivers to adjust the intensity of the regenerative braking, which helps in further improving the range. While the existing Nexon EV already gets regen braking, it is mild and non-adjustable.

We expect that the new Nexon EV will offer some style updates, security features and along with multiple riding modes.

The long-range Nexon EV is likely to get an air purifier and ventilated front seats. It is also expected to get cruise control, a park mode, and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) over the current Nexon EV.

Long-range Nexon EV: expected price and rivals

The 2022 Tata Nexon will get a price hike of around Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh over the current Nexon EV. This roughly means that the final price of the Nexon EV will be around Rs 18 lakh. However, the long-range variant of Nexon will be sold alongside the current generation of Nexon. In this way the company can provide more choices to customers to choose from as per price and range.

The long-range Nexon EV will compete with the likes of Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV in the Indian market.
