Kia India tipped to launch new mid-size premium SUV to rival Mahindra XUV700

The India market has seen a rise in the SUV segment in the recent months. Now, reports have indicated that we will see a new premium mid-size SUV by Kia in the Indian market soon. The upcoming Kia SUV is expected to rival the popular Mahindra XUV700 in the market. The said Kia SUV is currently offered in the international market. If reports were to be believed it would arrive in India soon.

The Kia SUv we are talking about is the Kia Sportage. It is one of the premium SUVs offered by the brand globally. The SUV comes equippeded with a striking and attractive look than its peers.

Kia Sportage features

Kia Sportage features an attractive modern design with a X shaped headlamps at the front and the signature tiger nose grille of the brand. While the rear of the model gets a similar design as the Carens.

Talking about the interiors, as it is one of the most premium offering SUVs from Kia, the Sportage offers rich-cabin experience along with a floating infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Other key highlights on the model include a three spoke steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rotary gear lever, ADAS suite, and more in its package, overall making it a premium packaged SUV.

Kia Sportage Powertrain 

In India, the Kia Sportage can get the 2.0-litre NA petrol engine producing 153 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque and a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 183 bhp and 416 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options should include a manual and automatic gearbox on both these engines.

Currently the brand is tightlipped about launching the Sportage SUV in the country. Kia has recently launched the new Carnival and EV9 in the country and are now set to introduce the new Clavis in the coming year. Now we expect the brand to launch this SUV in the coming year to rival the other mid-size SUVs in the country. Pricing-wise, we expect it to be in the price range of Rs 30 lakh to 35 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
