Honda will be launching two new electric scooters in the Indian market. The company has confirmed that both models will be launched in FY2024. One of them could be the electric version of the popular Honda Activa scooter.

The upcoming Honda electric scooters will be based on a dedicated EV platform, which is codenamed Platform E. This will reportedly support different battery architectures.

According to reports, Honda will be launching its first electric scooter in the mid-range category. The electric offering will come with a fixed battery. Rumours suggest that it could be called the Activa Electric. Meanwhile, the second model will be equipped with a swappable battery setup.

Honda has announced that it will be setting up battery-swapping stations at over 6,000 touchpoints across India. Among them, 23 stations have already been installed in Bangalore and more will be added in the southern states in Phase 2. Honda plans to expand the reach of its charging network further in Phase 3.

Moreover, the company plans to convert some of its service centres to dedicated EV workshops. These workshops will be called ‘E’. The brand’s EV range will be manufactured at Factory ‘E’ in Narsapura, Karnataka. The plant will have a production capacity of 1 million units by 2030.
