BYD Seagull EV is the most selling car offered in the China; costs just $10,000

BYD Seagull EV has emerged as the highest selling car offering in China for August 2024. 46,830 units of the Seagull EV were sold last month in China, reported InsideEVs. It is quite interesting to note that seven out of the top 10 cars sold in China are manufactured by BYD. All the models were either pure EVs or plug-in hybrids.

The BYD Seagull which is the most selling car in China across all categories is quite affordable and costs just $10,000. The size of the car is similar to that of the Chevrolet Bolt and is equipped with a 30 kWh battery pack. The range of the car is 305 km as per the Chinese test cycle. There is also a higher variant which has a 38 kWh battery pack. This variant offers 405 km of range on the CLTC cycle and costs just $12,000. BYD has sold a total of 37300 units of EV and PHEV (combined) in August. The manufacturer sold 148,470 units of EV last month in China.

The BYD Seagull EV is expected to launch in Europe sometime next year. Even though the EV will be launched with EU tariffs, it will still be affordable for the buyers. It is expected that the expected price tag of the car in Europe will be around $20,000 as it launches in 2025.

BYD eMax 7 

BYD India has opened the bookings for eMax 7 electric MPV in the country. The buyers who are interested to buy the car can book it by paying a token amount of Rs 51,000 at nearest authorised dealerships present across the country. The enquiry for the upcoming electric car can be done on their official website. The MPV is expected to be launched on October 8, 2024.
