Automaker Maruti Suzuki to hike prices of its cars in India very soon

After facing a dip in sales due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the automobile industry is back on track. However, due to the increasing input costs, many automobile manufacturers have hiked the prices of their vehicles. Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in India has hiked the prices of its cars many times in the past few months. The manufacturer will again hike the prices of its vehicles and the new prices will be implemented later this month (April 2022).

The Maruti Suzuki price hike will not be the same across its car range. This means that the different models of Maruti Suzuki cars will have differences in price hikes. Maruti is expected to reveal the rise in prices of the models very soon. Currently, the semi-conductor shortage issue is impacting the automobile market in India and Maruti Suzuki is no exception to it. The war between Russia and Ukraine is also slightly impacting the automobile supply chains.

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the 2022 Baleno in India along with some upgrades. The automaker is expected to launch some exciting models this year including the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

Earlier this month (April) the auto major reported a year-on-year rise in its total sales for March 2022 to 170,395 units from 167,014 units sold during the same period of the corresponding year.

The company’s total sales in the month include domestic sales of 137,658 units, ‘sales to other OEMs’ of 6,241 units and its highest ever monthly exports of 26,496 units.

For FY22, the company posted total sales of 1,652,653 units with a growth of 13.4 per cent over FY21.

“The shortage of electronic components had some impact on the production of vehicles in FY 2021-22. The Company took all possible measures to minimise the impact,” Maruti Suzuki said in a statement.
