South Korean car manufacturer Kia has launched the Sonet facelift model in India at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh. The major change in the facelift includes the homecoming of the diesel MT engine that was dropped in 2023. The other changes in the car include some cosmetic changes as well as some feature update. This update is perhaps the major update after the Sonet’s launch in 2020.
The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is offered in three engine options and four transmission options. The 1.2-litre N.A. Petrol MT is the base model and goes is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 9.90 lakh. On the other hand, the 1-litre Turbo-petrol iMT costs between Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 13.39 lakh. The DCT variant of the 1 litre petrol engine is between Rs 12.29 lakh and Rs 14.69 lakh. The 1.5-litre Diesel engine is offered in MT, iMT and AT transmission options. Price for the diesel variants starts at Rs 9.79 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.69 lakh.
In terms of design, the SUV gets a redesigned front profile along with connected tail lamps. The SUV also gets new alloy wheels. The LED DRLs and connected tail lamps brings difference in design. On the other hand, the cabin changes include 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 360-degree camera, six airbags as standard, 4-way power adjustable driver seat, redesigned climate control etc. ADAS feature on the car makes it safer than its predecessor.
In terms of engine output, the 1.2-litre Petrol generates 83 PS/115 Nm. Similarly, the 1-litre Turbo-petrol engine with 7-speed DCT produces 120 PS/172 Nm. The 1.5-litre Diesel engine offers 116 PS/250 Nm.
When it comes to competitors, the Kia Sonet rivals the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue etc.
