Tata Motors revitalized the micro-SUV segment in India with the launch of the Tata Punch. The Tata Punch currently brings around 10-11k sales per month. But to keep that going the company needs to keep on updating the Punch. So let see what new updates the Tata Punch might get in 2022.
Diesel engine
Tata Motors did not provide a diesel engine during the launch of the Tata Punch. So, we expect Tata to give the SUV a diesel engine now. Last year, a test mule of the diesel variant of Punch was spotted while testing. Tata could offer its 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine, that powers the Altroz, on the Punch. This engine produces 88bhp and 200Nm of torque. We expect Tata to give it a manual gearbox option only.
New-turbo petrol engine
Tata might also add a new 1.2-litre i-Turbo engine on the Punch. The same engine is also used on the Altroz. It is capable of producing 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. The Tata Punch currently is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. So, the company may add the 1.2-litre i-Turbo engine to give it a boost.
Tata Punch 2022 – DCA gearbox
The Tata Altroz premium hatchback is now being offered with the dual clutch automatic (DCA) gearbox. The 2022 Tata Punch might also come with a DCA gearbox too. Currently, the Punch comes with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. Tata may add the DCA gearbox on the Punch to give it a oomph factor.

Tata is late,now there is maddening rush of models to choose from,if they introduce the punch diesel and dca it will sink in this rush of new models,only a 4×4 variant will help the sale of punch now that too will be lost ones jimny was released,Tata makes good vehicle but introduction time was bad ,so itself they have to improve their service centre behaviour.
