9 minor girls rescued from Rayagada station

Rayagada: Nine minor girls were rescued from the Railway station here with the help of Railway Police Force (RPF) and the local Child Helpline early on Wednesday morning. They were about to board a train to go to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to work as bonded labourers in a fishing Company.

The girls have been identified as residents of Kolnara and Ramanaguda block in Rayagada district.

The broker who was taking them to Andhra Pradesh, however managed to flee from the spot. Search operation is going on to trace the broker, said the police.

The lpeople of the town requested the district administration to take stern action against the miscreants, with to end the practice of bonded labour in the state.
