Eight coaches of Mahakaushal express derail, 22 injured

Lucknow, Mar 30: As many as 22 people suffered injuries as eight coaches of a Delhi bound Jabalpur-Mahakaushal express derailed near Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh late on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the incident took place at around two pm. However, the cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained.

“22 people suffered injuries in Mahakaushal express derailment accident, out of which 19 are discharged,” said Anil Saxena, DG (PR) of Indian Railways.

The remaining coaches of the train will be moved forward towards Jhansi where eight additional coaches will be attached.

Three buses were arranged for the passengers while the stranded ones were provided with water and biscuits.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed state Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh to visit the site and oversee the rescue and relief operations there.
