Budget Session of the Parliament ends on a High Note

Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die today. During the Budget session, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have passed several important legislation including four Bills related to Goods and Services Tax and held discussions on several important subjects.

In Lok Sabha, as many as 24 Bills were introduced out of which 23 were passed during the session. The legislations which have been passed include four GST Bills, Payment of Wages (Amendment) Bill, the Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Bill, the Maternity Benefit (Amendment Bill) Bill, the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, the Mental Health Care Bill and the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill. The Union Budget and relevant Appropriation Bills were also given approval.

On the other hand, Rajya sabha passed or returned 14 Bills during the session which generated lively debates in various issues including Union Budget 2017-18. The second part of Budget session had begun on the 9th of last month.

Budget Session of Parliament was “Constructive & Productive”. Lok Sabha’s productivity was 113.27%, for Rajya Sabha it was 92.33%.
