Australia’s decision to abolish 457 Visa Program will affect Indian workers
In what could be considered as a major setback for the foreigners working in Australia, the Australian government has decided to abolish the 457 Visa Program in the country and will replace it with a tighter scheme.
The abolition of this visa program, which is an attempt to clean up Labour’s mess in Australia, will have an impact on the Indian community as it is used by majority of Indians working in Australia.
The 457 visa program is used by the Australian companies to bring in temporary foreign workers for a period up to four years.
The temporary visas for foreign workers would be replaced by a new class of visa, better targeted to ensure that foreign workers were only brought in to fill genuine skills shortages.
