WhatsApp’s Latest Version To Have Revamped Reporting Feature

New Delhi: Facebook-owned instant messaging and communication application WhatsApp is all set to roll out its latest beta version 2.18.246 on WhatsApp for Android. This new version comes with a brand new revamped layout for the ‘Report’ feature available for both individual and group chats. In the new beta version, an alert box will pop up using which the user can block an individual contact or exit from a particular group besides being able to delete messages in the conversation. The user will also be able to retain the chat history for these reported groups and chats, something which was not possible earlier.

To find the new Report feature, a user needs to go into the group or individual chat that he wishes to report. In case of individuals, one needs to click on the three dots menu and select view contact and then scroll down to click on the Report option. In case of groups, one needs to click on the three-dotted menu on the top right, click on View group info, and select Report.

However, users can only report individual conversations with saved contacts. Chats from senders that do not feature in the Contact list will only show the Block option. Users can check the feature of this new version by enrolling in the WhatsApp beta programme on Google Play or side-loading the APK from APK Mirror.

The revamped report feature by WhatsApp aims to provide flexible options to the user to choose between deleting and retaining chats for users that have been reported on the platform. However, the feature is expected to get a few modifications before it rolls out widely. Earlier, WhatsApp had also tested picture-in-picture video for Instagram and YouTube which will show small previews of videos from both these platforms, with zero interruption to your chat.
