Anandpur: In a shocking incident, a youth was drowned to death in a pond in Sulana village under Hatadihi block in Keonjhar district while learning how to swim on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Kulamani Mallick of Balabhadrapur village of the same block.
As per the report, the deceased, a +2 student tried went to a village pond this morning where he tried to learn swimming from some of his friends out of curiosity. However, much to his dismay the victim lost balance and slipped into the water.
Some villagers rescued him from the pond in critical condition and admitted to Anandpur Sub Divisional Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident and started investigation.
