Bhadrak: A miscreant brutally crushed a woman to death with a grinding stone and injured her daughter for unspecified reason in Talasitha village under Dhamnagar Police Station area in the district last night.
The deceased woman has been identified as Bhaktilata Behuria, wife of Rabindra Behuria of the same village. The killing took place while Rabindra was away from home.
As per the daughter of the victim who survived the attack, the accused identified as Gopinath Mohanty alias Babua of the same village called up her mother from her father’s mobile phone and told to open the door of the house at around 1 AM in the night. After Bhaktilata opened the door the accused attacked her and thrashed brutally. Later, he dragged the victim to a tube well located inside the house and crushed her head with a grinding stone.
As the deceased’s daughter came out of her room and tried to save her mother from the clutches of the accused, she was also attacked. The assailant thrashed the girl mercilessly and fled the spot after tying her hand and legs.
Dhamnagar Police reached the spot after getting an intimation on the incident from the neighbours of the victim woman. Cops trying to find out how the accused got access to the mobile phone of the victim’s husband which was used in the crime.
On the other hand the husband of the deceased woman who works as a carpenter is missing since the incident.
