Suresh PrabhuNew Delhi: Taking moral responsibility for  back-to-back train accidents in the last one week, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday offered to resign, but was asked to wait by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a series of tweets, Prabhu today revealed his decision in this regard.

“I am extremely pained by the unfortunate accidents, injuries to passengers and loss of precious lives. It has caused me deep anguish. I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking full moral responsibility. Honourable PM has asked me to wait,” Prabhu said on Twitter.

“In less than three years as Minister, I have devoted my blood and sweat for the betterment of the Railways,” he said in another tweet.

Prabhu was facing criticism from different quarters after the Utkal Express accident in Muzaffarnagar on Saturday that killed 23 passengers and injured over 60, and the derailment of the Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyat Express in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, leaving over 70 persons injured.
