Southwest Monsoon hits Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The much awaited Southwest Monsoon hit Kerala, marking the arrival of the rainy season in the country on Tuesday. This was informed by the Indian Meteorological Department, the country’ official weather forecaster. The Southwest Monsoon hit the state three days before the forecast of the weatherman.

Different places of the state like Minicoy, Amini, Thiruvananthapuram, Punalur, Kollam, Allapuzha, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Thalassery, Kannur, Kudulu and Mangalore witnessed rain under the influence of the Southwest Monsoon.

The Meteorological Department also informed that the Monsoon will touch interior parts of Karnataka in next 48 hours.

The Bhubaneswar-based regional MeT office said that the Monsoon is likely to  touch Odisha in the second week of June.
