Bhubaneswar: Taking ahead the Ponzi scam probe in the state, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed the second chargesheet in Seashore chit fund scam and named five persons including Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal in it.

Along with Biswal, his wife Laxmi Bilasini Biswal, retired IAS officer Pradeep Hota, wife Pratima Hota and another official of the chit fund company have been named in the chargesheet.

The 100 page chargesheet also contains statements of at least 60 witnesses that points at the MLA’s involvement in extending undue favour to the chit fund firm in influencing people in his constituency and by that helping it to sell its products to gullible investors. Similarly, Biswal’s wife Laxmi Bilasini has been accused of entering into a land deal with Seashore Group chief Prashant Dash.

The accused OAS officer has been named in the chargesheet for extending undue favour to the Ponzi firm in his capacity as the Managing Director of Agricultural Promotion and Investment Corporation Limited (APICOL).

CBI had earlier filed a 276-page chargesheet in the case in which it named Seashore owner Prashant Dash, his brother Pravat Dash and middleman Subhankar Nayak.
