Bhubaneswar: In a major relief to BJD’s ailing Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal, the Orissa High Court on Thursday granted him permission to visit outside the state for treatment.

Notably, Biswal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on September 19, last year for his alleged links with Seashore chit fund scam.

On June 26, the Orissa High Court granted conditional bail to Biswal. He was given the bail after furnishing two sureties of Rs five lakh each.

The conditions of the bail remained the same as laid down by the High Court while granting him interim bail for two months on April 24. The court has asked him to co-operate with the investigating agency and not to destroy any proof during the bail period.

Earlier, the Special CBI Court, Bhubaneswar and the District Judge and Sessions Court had rejected his bail pleas following which he had been remanded to judicial custody.

However, he was rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital and undergoing treatment there after he complained of illness.

After his bails were rejected by the lower courts, the legislator had moved Orissa High Court seeking bail and was granted interim bail on April 24.
