Police Crack Khordha Teacher’s Murder Case

Khordha: Odisha Police on Friday cracked the sensitive murder case of lady teacher Anjali Dehury at Badapokharia village in the district and arrested a youth from Gujarat in this connection.

The accused has been identified as Kunu Jena, a married person. He was staying at his brother in law’s residence in the village. However, he fled to Gujarat soon after committing the crime on January 4, police said.

According to police sources, Jena lynched the lady teacher as she had caught him in a compromising position with a minor girl in the village. The minor girl is said to be his relative.

Anjali had warned to expose his immoral act, although Jena had pleaded her not to disclose the matter, sources added. Eventually, the accused decided to kill her to escape from his immoral act, police sources added.

“We found a witness in this murder case. He had seen the accused near the crime scene a few minutes before the murder. The accused had fled to Gujarat. We arrested him and he confessed to have committed the crime,” said a police official.

Anjali, a resident of Kantabada village under Begunia was cudgelled to death in an agricultural field midway between her home and the school on January 4, 2018.
