Bhubaneswar:  The State Government on Monday directed the Rural Development department to build as many as 200 bridges, including the 145 projects taken up under Biju Setu Yojana (BSY) in 2017-18 financial year.

The move came after a review meeting presided by the Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on the progress of bridge construction under BSY across the state.

Padhi directed the departmental engineers to complete the tender process by November 30 and begin the fieldwork in December. He asked the officials to strictly enforce safety guidelines and ensure quality during the bridge construction.

The state has so far built as many as 500 bridges across the state under the Biju Setu Yojana, Padhi informed.
