Odisha farmers join Rashtriya Kisan Mahasammelan in Delhi New Delhi: Thousands of farmers from Odisha joined the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasammelan at Sansad Marg in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Around 5000 farmers from Odisha under the banner of Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) attended the national convention of the farmers which was inaugurated by noted social activist Anna Hazare.

Around 10,000 farmers from 22 states also attended the Kisan Mahasammelan to press their long standing demands of price (a hike in minimum support price), prestige and pension.

NKS advisor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and convener Akshay Kumar also attended the convention.

A memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be submitted by the farmers’ body with a demand to resolve issues of farmers within six months. The farmers have warned to intensify the agitation if their demands are not addressed by the Central government.
