Odisha CM inaugurates light & sound show at Sun temple in Konark

Light and sound showKonark: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the much awaited light and sound show at the Sun Temple in Konark on Saturday.

Tourism & Culture Minister Ashok Panda was present on the occasion.

India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and State Tourism Department jointly completed the project at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.53 crore.

According to sources, the light and sound show will play a crucial role in informing tourists about the rich history of the Black Pagoda.

As many as eight high definition projectors will be used for the light and sound show using laser technology while the audience will be provided with wireless headphones, the first of its kind facility in the country.

Around 250 audiences can watch the programme every day at 7 PM. However, the timing will be changed during the winter season. The price of each ticket is Rs.30.

The 40-minute show will be presented in three languages – English, Hindi and Odia. There will be language options in the headphones and a tourist can choose the most convenient one.

While Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi has done the voice over for the English version, popular actor Sekhar Suman lent his voice for the Hindi portion.  The narration of the historical and religious significance of the 13th century monument in Odia is recorded in the voice of Ollywood veteran Bijay Mohanty.
