Odisha cancels Govt officials’ holiday to tackle flood like situation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Saturday ordered to open all government offices across the state on Sunday in order to tackle the possible flood situations across the state. This was informed by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi after attending a review meeting at the Secretariat.

“In view of the prevailing flood-like situation in many parts of the State and in view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in next 48 hours, it has been decided to cancel the holiday on July 22 (Sunday) and keep all offices open across the State,” said Sethi in an official communiqué to all district Collectors.

The SRC also directed all district Emergency Operation Centres to function round the clock.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Pratap Jena said special teams of doctors will also be deployed and health camps will be organized in all affected districts. Besides, adequate stocks of ORS, Halogen tablets and anti-venoms are kept ready to counter any possible waterborne disease.
