Odisha anti-liquor protesters clash with with police Baripada: An anti-liquor protest at Dahisahi village under Rasagobindapur police limits in Mayurbhanj district turned out to be fatal as a group of women involved in a clash with police personnel after the latter prevented the former from vandalizing a country liquor shop.

According to reports, some women of a self-help group (SHG) tried to ransack a government licensed country liquor shop alleging that their husbands, even children become drunkards  due to the presence of the wine shop in the locality.

On their way to the liquor unit, the women flock armed with sticks and stones had a face-off with the cops when waylaid them. The irate women then attacked the police personnel by pelting stones at them.

As many as four police officials including Betanati SDPO Dhiren Nanda were injured in the attack. Later, police restored to a mild lathi-charge to bring the situation under control. However, acute tension still prevailed in the area.
