Bhubaneswar: While the Congress leaders and workers in Odisha are rejoicing over the appointment of Niranjan Patnaik as the new Pradesh Congress Committee President and are seeing a ray of hope for the party’s resurrection, Odisha BJP Legislature party leader KV Singh Deo claimed that Niranjan’s appointment will not have any impact on the grand old party.
“Niranjan Patnaik’s appointment as the new Odisha PCC President will not have any impact on the state Congress party as All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi has appointed Niranjan with the direction of BJD surpremo and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. His brother is a BJD MP,” said Singh Deo while speaking to the reporters.
On the other hand, Congress Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati thanked the AICC Committee members for appointing the new team of Odisha Congress under the leadership of Niranjan. “Along with the people, most of the party leaders needed Niranjan Patnaik. This will boost the party activists at the booth level and help the grand old party to come to the power in Odisha,” Bahinipati said.
The AICC today announced senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik as the new PCC President of Odisha replacing Prasad Harichandan with immediate effect.
