Cuttack: In a return of the mysterious animal fear to the state, at least five sheep were found dead in Lunahar village under Chandradeipur panchayat in Cuttack district on Saturday.
The sheep carcasses were found in the cattle shed of one local, Rabindra Behera. The incident came to fore after Behera went on to inspect the shed early in the morning. While the sheep were found in a pool of blood, pug marks of the predator were also found in and around the spot pointing at the same modus operandi of the mysterious animal.
Forest officials along with veterinary teams reached the spot later in the morning to examine the dead sheep to find out the cause of their death.
Notably, the mysterious animal had killed over 250 sheep in Niali region from March to July last year which put the government on its toes.
