Burla: In a shocking incident, two youths were grievously injured after being stabbed with knives during a group clash on the premises of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) here in Sambalpur district today.
The injured persons have been identified as Sagar Samal of Dhipapada and Amit Kumbhar of Mahatab Nagar. Both of them have been admitted to the hospital.
According to reports, there were some arguments between Samal and Kumbhar over some unknown reasons when they were standing near the ticket counter of the hospital. Their verbal altercation took an ugly turn when both of them attacked each other physically. Later, a group clash ensued between them when their supporters arrived on the spot during which they were attacked with knives.
Police deployed on the premises of the government hospital rushed to the site after hearing the commotion, however, could not catch anyone except the injured Samal and Kumbhar.
The cops have initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the cause of the crime. It is assumed that the incident could be a fall out of rivalry over diverting the patients from the hospital to some private hospitals in the town or may be due to past enmity.
A manhunt also has been launched by the police to arrest the culprits.
