Matric Exam Result: Yet another student commits suicide over poor marks in Odisha

Angul: Another girl student allegedly committed suicide as she scored less marks than her expectation in the annual Matric exam, results of which were declared by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Monday.

One Sumitra Mirdha of Jhinkibahal village under Kishorenagar police limits of the district consumed poison to end her life after she got poor marks in the annual Matric exams.

She was rushed to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition, where doctor declared her brought dead.

While police has started an investigation into the matter, a pall of gloom descended on the village following the minor’s death.

Sources at the police said that Mirdha’s body will be handed over to her family members after completion of postmortem.

With Mirdha’s death, the death toll due to poor marks in the tenth exam climbed to three today.

Two more students at Narendrapur village under Seragada block of Ganjam district and Ratalanga village in Jajpur district had taken the drastic step earlier after they failed to excel in the annual High School Certificate Examinations.
