Malkangiri: Heavy rain which lashed Malkangiri for last couple of days has inundated most parts of the district and cut-off Bandaghati from the rest of the world.

As per the latest report, at least 32 villages in tribal dominated Bandaghati area lost road connectivity with the rest of the district following a landslide at Mankad Jhola area where a large chunk of earth blocked the road.

Notably, heavy downpour which has left areas like Pangam, MV-37, Korukonda, Kalimela completely inundated also left hundreds of vehicles stranded on either side of the Malkangiri-Jeypore, Malkangiri-Balimela and Padia-Kalimela roads as rain water submerged these routes. The intra-district transport was badly hit with several low-lying bridges remained under rainwater since last night.

On the other hand, the district administration has readied ODRAF, fire official and police teams to tackle any kind of situation arising out of more rain in Bandaghati area.
