Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP on Tuesday alleged that mafias of the state are looting mines from the state under BJD’s patronage.
BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, in a press meet at party office, alleged that mafias have been looting mines from different mine blocks of the state with the help of the BJD leaders and state government.
Backing his allegation, Sharma cited the examples of Dankari, Saroi and Balarampur mine blocks in Dharmasala tahasil of Jajpur district, from where mines were illegally transported.
The saffron party spokesperson also alleged that the locals have been raising voice against the illegal activities and even had drawn the attention of the local and district administration. However, no action was taken; on the contrary, they were targeted and attacked by the mafias and their goons. Some of them are even undergoing treatment, added Sharma.
BJP threatened to take the issue to the street if the BJD government does not take any action in this regard.
