Kurnool quarry blast: One more Odia dies, death toll climbs to 4

Bhubaneswar: With the death of one more Odia, the death toll from Odisha in the stone quarry blast in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district climbed to four today. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Nahak of Rambha area in Ganjam district.

Nahak died while undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Bhima Nahak of J.Radhagovindpur, Duryodhana Nahak and Manoranjan Nahak of Nuagaon under Rambha police limits in Ganjam are the other three Odias who had died after the mishap earlier.

Sources said two labourers from Odisha are still undergoing treatment in Kurnool in critical condition.

The stone quarry blast had taken place on August 3 causing the death of 13 persons on the spot.

Earlier on Monday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the family members of the deceased. Besides, he had assured that the state government will also bear the treatment expenses of the injured ones.
