Kunduli Gang Rape: Maoist demand Rs 2 cr ex-gratia for victim, arrest of accused

Koraput: While the state police remained clueless of the accused even after 55 days of the much-hyped Kunduli gang rape and medical reports stating the minor tribal girl was not gang raped, Maoists have again raised the issue demanding immediate arrest of the rapists and Rs 2 crore compensation for the survivor.

According to reports, letters from the Srikakulam-Koraput Division of CPI (Maoist) surfacing at different places of the district today demanded the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident and Rs 2 crore ex-gratia for the gang rape survivor.

The red rebels have also sought transfer of the Koraput Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and Superintendent of Police (SP) and urged the state police to stop the Operation Green Hunt in the state.

Protesting the alleged gang rape by a group of four men uniformed as jawans of Central Forces, the members of the outlawed group had observed bandh in five district earlier.

The ninth standard student from Musaguda village was allegedly gang raped while returning from the Kunduli daily market on October 10.

After repeated medical treatments and psychological counseling since October 11 and remaining in the custody of the district Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the minor girl returned home with certain conditions on November 28.

The family members were allowed to take her after they submitted a written assurance. As per the conditional permission, the survivor to stay at home and cannot leave Koraput without permission of the CWC.
