Khelo India School Games: Odisha boys’ hockey win gold, girls clinch bronze in football

New Delhi: Odisha boys’ hockey team thrashed Punjab by 2-1 goals to clinch the gold medal in the first Khelo India School Games here on Thursday.

Likewise, the girls’ football team defeated West Bengal in a big margin of 8-0 to clinch the bronze in athletics meet.

With the two more medals, Odisha’s medal tally went up to nine with three gold, one silver and five bronze in the KheloIndia School Games-2018.

Pratyasa Ray gave the first medal to the state on the second day of the Khelo India School Games. She won Bronze in 100m Back Stroke Swimming (Girls). She was followed by Punga Soren who struck the Gold medal in 110 Mtr Hurdle Athletics (Boys).

The other four athletes who brought medals for Odisha are – S.R. Sahoo Nigam (Bronze in 63 Kg Boxing), Nandan Sahu (Bronze in 77 Kg Weightlifting), Sneha Soren (Silver in 48 Kg Weightlifting) and Bhaktaram Desti (Gold in 50 Kg Weightlifting).

Pratyasa Ray again won a Bronze in 200m Back Stroke Swimming on the fourth day of the sports meet.
