ICC U-19 World Cup: India beat Pakistan, storm into Final

Christchurch: India stormed into the Final of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup with a stunning 203-run win over arch-rival Pakistan here in New Zealand this morning .

The Prithvi Shaw-led side will face Australia in the summit clash at Mount Maunganui on Saturday.

Elected to bat in the semi-final, three-time champion India posted 272 for 9 in 50 overs. Pakistan were blunted by Shaw (41) and Manjot Kalra (47) early, and later Shubman Gill stole the show.

Gill converted his record sixth consecutive 50-plus score in Youth ODIs into a magnificent backs-to-the wall century. He made an unbeaten 102.

While chasing the victory target of 273, Pakistan were bundled out for just 69 in 29.3 overs. For India, Paceman Ishan Porel bagged the maximum of 4 wickets, while Shiva Singh and Riyan Parag took 2 wickets each.

Gill was adjudged Man of the Match.

Odisha Chief  Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the Indian young team and wished them for the Final Match.
