Heavy Shower to hit 10 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The depression over Bay of Bengal has turned into a deep depression which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in at least 10 districts of Odisha during next 48 hours, said the Meteorological Department bulletin on Friday.

“Heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Khorda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara,Cuttack, Malkangiri and Koraput during next 48 hours,” it said.

Squally winds speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely to prevail along and off Odisha coasts up to December 10.

Sea condition will be rough to very rough along the Odisha coast till Sunday. Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) has been hoisted at to Paradeep and Gopal pur Ports. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea till Saturday morning.

In view of rain forecast, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has asked all the District Collectors to advise farmers to shift their harvested paddy to a safe place and take necessary steps to avoid any damage of crops during the rain.
