Hardcore Maoist surrenders in Odisha

Nuapada: In a major setback for the Maoists, one of their leaders laid his arms before Odisha police on Tuesday.

According to reports, hardcore red rebel Purna Chandra Majhi alias Jaikishan surrendered before Nuapada Superintendent of Police (SP).

Jaikishan, who was carrying Rs 1 lakh on his head, was involved in Maoist activities since 2015 and had joined Mainpur-Nuapada division in July 2017.

He was involved in Badjhola exchange of fire on February 25 and Kathpar encounter on April 7 this year,

According to police, Jaikishan decided to quit the banned organization as he was not interested in the left-winged activities.

He will be rehabilitated as per the surrender policy of Odisha Government, added police.
