Bhubaneswar: Engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi’s mother Preeti Rani Mohanty on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to hand over the case of the sensational murder of her son to the CBI for a proper investigation.
In a letter to the CM, Preeti Rani questioned the delay in the investigation into Rishi’s murder case.
Commissionerate Police, which is probing the case, is yet to make any breakthrough even 15 months after the murder of the engineering student.
Notably, a sex video allegedly featuring Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena that had gone viral eight months back is suspected to be the reason behind the murder.
The preliminary investigation said that Rishi died due to excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs. However, two of Rishi’s friends had claimed that the controversial sex video, which they said was linked to his death, was recorded by his girlfriend.
The case had created a huge uproar in political circles in the state with opposition political parties seeking immediate arrest and resignation of Jena.
