Ganja ‘cloaked as corpse’ seized from fake Ambulance, 2 held

Malkangiri: Foiling the attempt of drug peddlers to work out a new method to transport banned drugs, the Malkangiri Police on Thursday seized a fake ambulance which was carrying ganja weighing 1.23 quintal cloaked as corpse after conducting a raid in Govindapalli area here. Two persons were taken into custody in the case.

The arrested peddlers have been identified as Lakhan Singh Rajput and Muzafar Saha. Both the accused are residents of Madhya Pradesh.

The drug consignment was seized at Govindapalli Chhak while a police check was underway. The drug peddlers tried to carry the ganja packs wrapped up in white sheets in a Mahindra Bolero given the look of a 108 ambulance. However, the cops intercepted the SUV on suspicion as its number plate was missing.

During the search of the vehicle police found ganja packs and took the accused dup into custody.

The seized narcotics were being transported to the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh State and we are examining the role of an interstate drug racket in the case, said police.
