Bhanjanagar: Launching a crackdown on rampant gambling in Ganjam district, police busted a gambling den and arrested 10 persons red-handed from the spot in Jiliba village under Bellaguntha police limits last night.
The raid was conducted after Bellaguntha Police got a tip-off on the den late in the night. During the raid cops managed to nab 10 gamblers from the spot while they were busy in deals. They also seized a number of mobile phones, bikes and cash worth over Rs 15,000.
The held gamblers have been forwarded to court today.
“More similar raids are lined up in the coming days as the area has witnessed a sharp rise in gambling activity in past few months,” said a police official.
