Khordha: In a tragic incident, a farmer was killed during a palli sabha at Talpada village under Tangi block of the district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Charan Pradhan.
A palli sabha over farmers’ issue was underway in the playground of the village. One Krutibas Paikray of the same village, who was in an inebriated state had a fight with Pratap Sahu, one of the officials of the agriculture department in Tangi during the meeting.
Charan Pradhan along with all the farmers protested the fight, fumed over which Paikray reportedly stabbed Pradhan with a sharp weapon.
Pradhan was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.
While the deceased farmer’s body is still kept in the hospital, the local police are yet to reach the spot for investigation.
