Puri: A youth was brutally hacked to death by a group of assailants in Kuapada village under Delang block of the district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Balabantray.
Niranjan was returning to his home at Kuapada village early this morning after attending nature’s call when a group of assailants chased and attacked him with sticks and sharp weapons. As the victim sustained grievous injuries and fell unconscious, the attackers fled the spot.
Some villagers first rushed Niranjan to Delang Hospital fand then shifted him to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed to the injuries.
Delang Police have lodged a case in the incident and suspect it to be a fallout of past enmity.
