DGP inaugurates 3rd Cyber Police station of Odisha

Sambalpur: Odisha DGP Dr RP Sharma inaugurated the third Cyber Police station at Baraipali on the first day of his two-day visit to the district on Wednesday.

The Cyber Police station will function under the Crime Branch and will deal with the cyber-crimes of nine districts namely Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Deogarh.

Sources said that the police station will have seven trained police personnel including an inspector, a sub-inspector and five constables.

This apart, Sharma inaugurated new buildings for the office and residence of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) at Rairakhol.

Police station buildings of Rengali and Sambalpur Town police and a police petrol pump at Reserve Police Line (Sambalpur) were also inaugurated by the DGP. The police petrol pump, which has been set-up in collaboration with the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), is said to be the second outlet in the state after Jharsuguda.

The top cop of the state also laid foundation stone for construction of multi-storey staff quarters building. Later he held discussion with the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all the districts coming under Sambalpur Range in the presence of DIG (Northern Range) Satyabrata Bhoi.

Apart from reviewing the overall law and order situation in the Northern Range, the DGP launched a mobile application ‘Sambalpur Police District App’.

People can download the ‘Sambalpur Police District App’ app from Google Play Store and can report directly to the police using the app. The app contains mobile numbers of all police officers in the district. This apart, features like women and traffic helplines are also available in the app.
