Congress observes 2-hour Petrol Pump Bandh in Cuttack

Cuttack: The Opposition Congress on Thursday called a 2-hour bandh of all Petrol Pumps here in Odisha protesting the recent rising prices of diesel and petrol by the Narendra Modi Government.

All the 17 fuel stations in the city were remained closed from 10 AM to 12 noon.

Hundreds of Congress activists under the leadership of Cuttack City Congress president Mohammad Mukim were seen picketing near Petrol pumps across the city.

“The rise in petrol and diesel prices also increases the rates of other essential commodities and services causing worries to common man in Odisha and outside,” Mukim said while talking to Kalinga TV.

“Prime Minister Modi will come here on Saturday; he should know how the common people are angry upon the BJP-led government at the Centre due to record high of petrol and diesel prices,” he added.

Petrol- Pumps in CuttackThe police said adequate security measures have been taken and there has been no untoward incident till noon.

Notably, Petrol and diesel prices continue to soar and touched another peak on Thursday. Petrol was hiked by 26 paise to Rs 85.29 per litre, while diesel prices on the other hand, were hiked by 16 paise to Rs 72.96 per litre.
