Colleagues dump man in Ib river suspecting him dead in Odisha

Jharsuguda: In a shocking incident, a 44-year-old man was dumped into Ib river from Ramtela bridge by his colleagues last night.

One Gautam Bhandare, who was working as a labourer in the Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC) plant at Banaharpali of Jharsuguda district, fell sick last night, following which he was being taken to Burla hospital in a Bolero vehicle by four of his co-workers. However, when Bhandare stopped breathing on the mid-way, his colleagues, suspecting him to be dead, threw him into Ib river from the Rampela Bridge.

After learning about the incident, Banharpali police detained the four persons including driver of the vehicle and are questioning them.

Meanwhile, a rescue operation has been initiated by the local administration with the help of police, firefighters and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team.
