Bomb attack in Odisha village, no one injured

Cuttack: Tension prevailed in Pokharigaon village under Niali block in the district after a bomb was hurled on a vehicle on Sunday night. However, no one was injured in the accident.

According to reports, some miscreants hurled a bomb on a Bolero SUV, bearing Registration no: OR 05 AG 8431, last night. The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Alekh Khatei in the village.

A case has been registered in this incident at Niali Police Station. “The reason behind the bomb attack is unknown, but an investigation has already begun into the matter and the culprits will soon be arrested,” said Srabal Maharana, IIC, Niali Police Station.

Earlier on the eve of the New Year’s Day, several bombs were hurled at different places in the village including the resident of the local Sarpanch, Jyotsnarani Mallick. The miscreants had also fired at least three rounds of bullets into the air in the village at midnight on December 31, 2017.
