Bollywood diva Sridevi breaths her last at 54

Mumbai: Iconic Bollywood actress and Padma Shri recipient Sridevi passed away following a massive cardiac arrest in UAE on Saturday night. She was 54.

Sridevi suffered the attack when she was in Dubai to attend the marriage function of actress Sonam Kapoor’s cousin Mohit Marwah and was accompanied by her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. Her elder daughter Janhvi was busy shooting for Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak in Mumbai and could not be able to join them.

Meanwhile, condolences started pouring in for Sridevi from Bollywood, politics and all corners of the society after her untimely demise.

PM Narendra Modi took to his official twitter handle and expressed his deep shock over the Bollywood diva’s death.

Similarly, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed his grief over the death of the veteran Bollywood actress who had carved out a special place in entertainment business for her.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also condoled the death of the actress who has been dubbed as the first female superstar of Hindi movie industry. Naveen said he is shocked over the incident and expressed his grief for the actress.

Actress Preity Zinta also condoled Sridevi’s death on her twitter pages.

Veteran movie star Hemalini who was once being considered as a competitor of the actress dubbed her as a very talented, beautiful and wonderful actress of yesteryears and claimed she is still finding it difficult to accept her untimely death.

“I could not believe that Sridevi is no more. She was very fit. There was no sign of illness. Rather Sridevi was a fitness freak,” said bad boy of yesteryear’s Bollywood Ranjit expressing his shock over the actress’s death.

Sridevi started her career as a child actress in Tamil films at the age of 4. Her Bollwood career as a heroine took off in the year 1979 with P. Bharathiraja’s movie Solva Sawan opposite Amol Palekar. However, she touched pinnacles of glory through his movie Himmatwala with Jeetendra. Later she gave back to back hits like Lamhe, Sadma, Chandni, Mr India, Akhri Rasta, and Judaai. After getting married to Boney Kapoor and staying away from movies for a few years she made a comeback with English Vinglish in 2012. The actress’s last movie was Mom in 2017.
