BJP’s 8-hour bandh cripples life in Jeypore

Jeypore: Normal life was thrown out of gear in Jeypore town in Koraput district today following an 8-hour bandh called BJP over fulfilment of a four-point charter of demand which includes Notified Area Council (NAC) status for Borigumma among others.

While the vehicular movement was completely disrupted during the bandh observation which started at around 6 AM and will continue till 2 PM, schools and colleges along with other educational institutions also remained closed.

The impact of bandh was also felt in Borigumma town also where the saffron party activists staged road blockades by burning tyres and resorted to picketing.

Along with NAC status to Borigumma, the BJP is also demanding exclusion of the ‘non-transferable’ status tag from the land records of a number of residents in Jeypore assembly constituency, CBI probe into the alleged fake ‘land patta’ distribution by the State Government in the area and Jeypore Hospital’s full-fledged function as the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
