New Delhi: The BJD on Thursday sought resignation of Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over his alleged links with ‘crime syndicate’ in Odisha.

Addressing a press conference here, BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Deb questioned the role of Pradhan on the allotment of petrol pumps to gangster Tito alias Syed Usman Ali in Kendrapara.

“Pradhan should resign from his post as a Union Minister at the earliest on a moral ground,” Deb said.

The BJD leader also alleged that this was the fourth instances that Pradhan had links with criminal acts in the state including Banabira firing case during the Bijepur bypoll early this year, in which a BJD worker died.

The BJP, however, rubbished the charges and said the allegations made by the BJD were baseless.

Meanwhile, gangster Tito was sent to Barimul jail in Kendrapara district after being produced before the SDJM court in Cuttack on Monday following the end of his three-day remand.
