ATM cash van CMAS employees among 9 arrested robbers in Odisha

Rourkela: In a major breakthrough, Odisha police on Tuesday arrested as many as nine miscreants including two ATM cash van CMAS employees involved in the recent  ATM cash van loot in the district.

Cops recovered Rs 24.35 lakh, 10 mobile phones, two rifles and different arms from the arrested. In addition, three two wheelers, which were used to rob the ATM cash van, were seized from their possession.

Out of the two rifles used in the robbery, one belonged to the security guard of the ATM cash van, police said.

Notably, four bike-borne miscreants, two each on two bikes, had looted Rs 25 lakhs at gunpoint from the CMAS ATM cash van of State Bank of India (SBI) near Sorada under Bisra police limits in Sundergarh district while the bank personnel were on their way to load cash in an ATM counter on Friday.

The bank officials had filed a complaint with the Bisra police following with the investigation was started. Police are interrogating them to know the involvement of others if any, in the loot.
