Bhubaneswar: AirAsia will start direct flight services to Bangkok from Biju Patnaik International Airport here, informed Odisha Culture and Tourism Minister Ashok Panda on Wednesday.
“Thai AirAsia is slated to start flights from Bhubaneswar in early next year. However, it is not decided how many times it will fly in a week,” said Panda.
“A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is likely to be signed between Thai AirAsia and the Odisha tourism department to start service,” he added saying Air India has also proposed the State Government to run international flights from here.
Currently, Air Asia operates daily flights connecting Bhubaneswar with Kuala Lumpur.
